Paddlefest 2012

Well that's it, Paddlefest done and dusted for another year! This was the first time the event was not run at an Outdoor Centre. Instead it was based at a hotel in Moville and used the local hall and pub for talks and chillin after a long day on the water.
Sea paddlers had it good sun and calm oceans. Not so good for the whitewater guys who had to settle for the Mourne. The coaching made up for it though. I heard great reports from colleagues who really enjoyed the progressive coaching and fresh ideas. We were pretty limited with the surf too. We travelled to South Donegal on day one and settled for small waves in the North for day two. I had the pleasure of working alongside two World champ surf kayakers Chris Hobson and Andy McCllelend for the weekend which was good fun. Hopefully these guys will push forward with their coaching in the future as they have lots of knowledge to share.
A good weekend had by all! Roll on Paddlefest 13!

Ocean Addicts Coaching & Development week

Here is some footage from the recent Ocean Addicts waveski & surf kayak coaching camp. Really good group of people on the course so made it a very enjoyable week. The footage is from sessions where students were working on various skills such as getting air, cut backs and re-entries. Plenty of spills so we know they were trying!
